Eric Burdon & The Animals- "When I Was Young" (1967) Live on Shebang, KTLA TV, Los Angeles

The Animals lip-syncing their dark psych masterpiece on an American Bandstand knockoff called Shebang, which aired in the mid-sixties locally in L.A. and was hosted by none other than....can you guess? (he makes an appearance at the end).

  1. Casey Kasem! and in the spirit of "American Top 40" : What 80's Australian psychedelic band released a live recording of this song back in 1988?

  3. Hey Eric is singing and not lip syncing on this track. The rest of the band are just goofing off. It's hard to play fake drums......

  4. Ed Kuepper did a version of this as well - you'll find it on The Exotic Mail Order Moods of Ed Kuepper

  10. voixautre, yes, Lime Spiders, a 12"er creatively called "EP" with: Too Close To The Sun / Jagged Edge / Odyssey / When I Was Young [live] - came out around the time "Volatile" did.

  11. cudawaver, do I win a prize? ;) By the way, have those live tracks ever shown up on a CD release?

  12. voixautre, the "When I Was Young" track was the only live one and was the only one not to appear on CD. The only live tracks to appear on CD (other than "Live at the Esplanade") are the ones that appeared originally on the B-side of "Weirdo Libido" 12" that are on the "Headcleaner" CD. There was a 4 track 7" promo flexi handed out at some of their concerts featuring 3 tracks from the "Cave Comes Alive" album and a cover of Hendrix's "Stone Free" - all live. As for your prize, check your e-mail.
