I don't think I've *seen* this one before Well! I know all the *Australian* 80s bands were screened on Rage, but I'm disconcerted to see this clip was too.
Also available on YouTube is "My White Devil" by Echo and the Bunnymen, from the Australian music show Rock Arena in 1983. I know because I taped it at the time. Levin
Thanks for posting this video, I was never a MTV (and the like) watcher as they seldom played anything from bands I followed in those days. The zebra background is a nice touch. I was playing this song once and my friend turned to me in gaze of wonderment and asked what and who this was. I told him and he just kept that gaze going and faintly uttered "wow". Enough said indeed.
I believe I remember the "Can Julian Cope?" headline bedlam mentioned above. Do you think it inspired Julian's "Bless My Cotton Socks I'm In The News" (the King sits on his face, but it's all assumed) lyric? Perhaps a for-thought as opposed to an after-thought...
too much julian ain't ever enough voixautre... a genius!
ReplyDeletei vaguely remember a headline in some UK music paper "Can Julain Cope?"
I love a good straight bass line.
