Rain Parade- "No Easy Way Down" (1985) Live "back across town at one of L.A.'s most fashionable clubs"

If you can put up with the twit interviewer and his ridiculous questions for a spell, the live performance that follows is a winner. This is the Post-David Roback / Eddie Kalwa incarnation of Rain Parade, purveyors of a pretty great brand of psych-pop....

  4. The late 70's early 80's was an exciting time for local bands and music. Venues would have the bands starting at 7pm not 10pm and the range and styles of music varied almost too much. Rock with disco mixed together with a sprinkle of ska for good measure. Also when you have an uncool avatar nobody steals it.

  5. scurfie, that was indeed an amazing time for live music. What I liked best was the mix of bands on the same bill. These days, everything is so divided according to micro-genres, there is very little mixing in that way. What a shame.

  6. The twit interviewer's name is David Hepworth, who along with sidekick Mark Ellen, ruined this UK show 'Whistle Test' for the best part of the 1980s. However, I saw this when first transmitted and it turned me on to the Rain Parade who I was lucky enough to see a couple of times in London in the mid 1980s - thanks for the sounds, much appreciated.
