Peter Hammill- "German Overalls" (1973) Live in the Studio, Rock en Stock

Peter Hammill, who was a key member of the seminal Art-Rock group Van der Graaf Generator, is a recent obsession of mine. There are few things in life more pleasurable than discovering a brilliant new band/artist with an immense discography to get lost in. Look for a few Hammill posts in the near future.

  4. Those vibrations must be oscillating through the universe. I've been obsessed with Hammill lately, too. I saw him perform in the late 70's by himself and with Van der Graff in NYC. The video is a good example of what he's about. Histrionic but it makes sense in the performance. There's lots to like in his solo catalog. Looking forward to your choices. Thanks for your (continued)enthusiasm.

  5. Such serendipity: I just got done dusting off (and upgrading the bitrate) of my VdGG / Hammill stuff last week. Been trolling through all of it since. Enduring material.

  7. bv, thanks for commenting. Do you have any suggestions for which albums I should post? Also, I posted your Ultravox request on the other blog, enjoy (and prepare for an avalanche of remastered John Foxx)

  10. Yes, I noticed the reply on P3. Thanks. As far as PH goes, I especially like the older ones like 'In Camera', 'The Future Now', and 'Black Box' (the epic track 'Flight' is really good on this one). 'Over' is one of the most 'down' but one of the most powerful listens. Most of his albums have something really good on them. I'd personally like to hear what they did with "'The Silent Corner & the Empty Stage". I think this was the album that initially turned me on to his solo stuff.

  11. I have one for the magic flac wizard, I'm always trying to stump the wizard but never do. You have any Amebix? An 80s band punk/metal hybrid certainly original. Upped some My Dying Bride at the spogblot! If you haven't heard any MDB introduce yourself to some, it is goth/metal from merry olde England a couple albums are epic masterpieces the ones from early 2000s Songs of Darkness, Words Of Light and The Dreadful hours.

  14. Mr. Puke, I was able to dig up one Amebix, "Arise! + 2." You actually did stump me with Chest Rockwell, though I did find an MP3 320 version of the album you requested. Let me know if you want it.
