Lou Reed & John Cale- "Slip Away (A Warning)" (1990) From Songs for Drella
Intensely beautiful tribute to Warhol that was more or less my introduction to Drella, who turned out to be a lifelong interest of mine. This was Reed and Cale's first reunion since Bataclan '72.
I so agree my love affair for the Velvets and then John, Lou and Nico has been a life time affair, could not imagine not listening to them. John Cale is amazing. :)
What an amazing album too ... I love Lou Reeds voice: it's totally "focused" somehow, plus the music concentrating on simple but important "movements" ... this keeps being fascinating (maybe even close to something you could call spiritual ...)
Issi, "Songs for Drella" has always been special for me; you decribed its affect quite well. It's up next in the VU series along with a FLAC audio rip of the long out of print laser disc of the live performance
Totally agree about 'Songs for Drella' love the CD still have my original one, I remember the video well (which I still have) and found it as a DVD the other day and now have that ;)
There will never be another Lou Reed.
