Tim Hecker- Ravedeath, 1972 (2011) MP3 & FLAC

Aside from having one the best album titles I've heard in awhile, Ravedeath, 1972 represents Tim Hecker's finest work in the minimalist Electronic vein. That eye-catching title reveals much about the music, in that it signifies, among other things, temporal displacement, the way past and future perpetually act upon and redefine each other. Recorded in a church, the album reverberates with the spaciousness of such a structure, but does so sounding both strangely organic and highly treated. As with much of Hecker's work, Ravedeath, 1972 is deceptively ambient. What I mean by this is that the compositions refuse any sense of linear progression or any trace of hierarchy among elements; however, they also insist on and reward one's close attention. "Cathedral Electronic," maybe, but Hecker's gift is to be both philosophical and visceral while never being aggressive about either.

  1. 1972? Love that stuff that is years ahead of it's time. I'ma load down now some Hecker. Picked up an old Aerosmith disc today, copied it on flac box and it is Bobby Brown or New Edition or something?! Bwahaha a misprint from the factory. The flac box is offline should put it in this machine and see what cddb says it is. Oh well I found about John Lee Hooker that way. Bought a Sea Hags cassette got home and it was John Lee, and liked it.

  2. bolshy yarbles, the Hecker album is brand new (2011). The title of the album is "Ravedeath, 1972." Can you imagine if someone actually was doing music like this in 1972?

  4. Hehe put that disc in lappy and used audiograbber to access cddb it is belle biv devoe some r&b i guess you would call it. Maybe the people at the cd press got bored and put some Helen Reddy on an Ozzy disc or Streisand on a Velvet Underground. Some Lou Reed that is what's lacking in flacing a page has the metal machine music album. Odd piss off the record company but fulfill recording contract albums are neat.
